Cute Kids' Products

So Skittle now has an Ebay store. Good for her! I'll be checking it out. I have not made the move to Ebay, but I have had a website for my products for some time.
My business is small, but you have to start somewhere, right? Also, children are expensive, so I am hunkering down to get some extra income in the door. :)
Go visit my site, Turtle Dove Creations. I make bag tags for adults and children, hand painted totes and lap trays, and hooded bath towels.
Each item in handcrafted with care. Go check it out!

Interpreter?

I need an interpreter. I had a nightmare night before last. I dreamed someone was after my family and I was trying to scream for help but couldn't. Why can't you scream in your dreams?
The "monster" that was after my family was an armless woman with black shark eyes who was wearing an "Aunt Bea" dress. Remember Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith Show? Yeah. It was a weird one.
And I did scream. Apparently, I woke up DH and scared Number One Son. DH said it sounded like an injured cat. All 4 times I did it.
Any ideas on what it meant?

Go Smoltzy, Go!

John Smoltz, long time pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, pitched his 3000th career strike out last night at Turner Field in Atlanta.

Oh yeah, I was there. It was very very cool! The Braves ended up losing the game, but it was still a fun night.

Go Braves!

But Mom!

Number One Son is 9. And he is very 9. He has already started noticing girls, but he won't admit it. I can just tell. He has a lot of friends, he just a very social kid. Even when he should be doing work in class.

But this morning he threw me for a loop. I handed him his clothes for school. (a pair of shorts and a polo style shirt)

NOS: Mom, I don't like any of these clothes.
Me: What clothes?
NOS: These clothes you bought me.
Me: These are great clothes!
NOS: Um, they're not cool.
Me: Not cool?
NOS: Yeah, you don't buy me cool clothes.
Me: Has someone at school told you your clothes aren't cool?
NOS: No, I just know they're not cool. Can you buy me some cool clothes?

Well, who knew? He also did another body snatcher thing.
He brushed his teeth without me reminding him. And. FLOSSED.

I don't know who the little girl is, but I know there's one behind all of this.

...Movin' On Up...

...not really. :(

*Update on the job interview*

So, I didn't get the job, they hired someone internally. Which is okay, I can handle rejection if the person I lost the job to has been there already and knows the ropes. Good for her.

But I'm still out there looking, I took my resume to someone today, hopefully I'll be going in for an interview soon!

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but Number One Son is an incredibly picky eater. Trying new things is not on his "To Do" list.

Tonight was lasagna night and as I placed everyone's plate in front of them, I fully expected to hear, "Oh maaaaan!" as he saw what we were eating. Instead, I heard nothing and when I returned with milk glasses I saw a strange, unexpected sight.

Number One Son was eating his lasagna. Wait, let me rephrase that. He was chowing down. I made a big deal and demanded he tell me who he was and what he had done with my son.

But he was definitely smiling from ear to ear when he realized just how pleased his mom was.

She Did It!

This was going to be a wordless weekend, but I had say something about this photo.

My beautiful daughter Queenie is 7 going on 15. Really, she is quite teenager-ish about some of the things she does. Like her room. It's an ongoing battle to get her to keep her room clean. No matter how many times I pick up it just gets cluttered again. I honestly don't know how she does it.

Anyway, her cousin came to visit this weekend and spent the night Friday. I told her that KD was coming and she needed to get her room straight. "Don't worry, I'll come help you if you'll just get started." Well, when I went into her room to check on her progress, she was done!

Apparently cousins need to come sleep over more often.
This is how her floor looks this weekend. She cleaned up on her own with no help from Mom at all.

You Are My Sunshine

Oh what a beautiful day! It's spring (at least for a little while) and we totally took advantage of it today!
We played outside basically all day, then took the dog for a walk while riding our scooters.
And what was the most fun about that was stopping and talking to all the neighbors who were outside enjoying the weather as well.

How did you enjoy your beautiful spring day?

Please Don't Go Girl

Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere...

The Hardest - But Most Rewarding - Job in the World

I want my children to be independent people who can make wise choices on their own. I want them to be confident people who aren't afraid to be bold and unique. We all want that for our children.
Queenie is rolling right along. I have no worries about just how independent and unique she will be. She's pretty responsible too. She's an all A student and she keeps up with all her work. Her room looks like a teenage girl's room, though, we're working on the mess.
The Flying Monkey has a little way to go, he's young. But he is a responsible little guy at preschool, he knows the drill.
Number One Son I struggle with. He's my baby, I'll be honest. I have a hard time letting him do things on his own. But I have started cutting the apron strings. One thing I did was leave his book report that was due this week completely up to him. He is old enough to know when it is due and what he needs to do to get it done. He didn't do it. And I am kicking myself because I feel like I should have kept bugging him about it. He probably would've done it had I done that. I realize, though, that would not have helped him in the long run.
He will turn it in tomorrow with points taken off for being late, and it will be an awesome report. But it will be late and I hope that will be the kicker for him to realize he has got to step it up.
I am in tears right now as I type this, though.
I know ultimately, this is a lesson he had to learn from his teacher. Not me. But you know, I'm his mom.
Whoever said parenting was easy if you did it right was out of their mind. It's the hardest job in the world, if you're doing it right. If it's easy, you must not be doing it right.
But I wouldn't have any other job. I love my benefits. :)

Back on the Market

I had a job interview today. I was a bit nervous. But we'll see. I won't count my chickens before they're hatched.
If anything, it was good practice, it's been a while since I've had an interview.
Have a great week!
